Buying and selling gemstones from Dubai, with protected payment

Dubai is one of the world's great jewelry markets, but most of the world's rubies and sapphires pass through Thailand to be treated, cut or traded. Everystone is an international network for colored-gemstone deals: you buy and sell from Dubai with the checks and the protected payment built in, and high-value stones can stay in a vault in Bangkok, where much of the trade happens.

Plainly

How a deal from Dubai works

Everystone works online with sellers and buyers in any country. There is no Everystone office, vault or pickup point in Dubai: the checks and custody are in Bangkok, and the protected payment works wherever you are.

  1. 01

    Choose a stone

Every lot on the shop states how far it has been checked, with its asking price in US dollars. You can browse without an account.

  2. 02

    Make a protected payment

You pay through Everystone's safe settlement, and a short identity check runs alongside. The seller is not paid until you confirm the stone.

  3. 03

    Delivery to the UAE

Below $10k, the stone travels to your address by insured courier: the seller includes delivery in the price or states its cost (from $60), and you see it before you pay. You can also collect it in person. A stone held in custody can change hands while it stays in a free-zone vault in Bangkok.

  4. 04

    Confirm, then release

When you have the stone and are satisfied, you confirm. Only then is the seller paid.

Customs and VAT

What a UAE buyer pays on arrival

A private buyer importing a gemstone into the UAE should expect to pay import duty and VAT on it, as of October 2026 commonly 5% duty on the value including shipping and insurance, then 5% VAT on that value plus the duty. Thresholds, the rules for VAT-registered businesses and the way couriers handle clearance all vary, so confirm the charges with the courier or a customs broker before you buy.

These charges go to the authorities, not to Everystone or the seller, and they are not included in the price on the lot.

Selling from Dubai

Selling a stone you own in the UAE

Everystone doesn't buy stones, in Dubai or anywhere else. We check them, find buyers and clear the sale.

  1. 01

    Start with a free record

Create a free Registry record: the stone's certificate cross-checked against the lab's records, with a QR page. Nothing has to travel.

  2. 02

    Have it checked in Bangkok

A verified sale needs the stone inspected against its report in Bangkok. From $30k, it can then stay in custody in a free-zone vault and sell without moving again.

  3. 03

    Offered to buyers

You list it from your cabinet on the $20/month account; once the desk confirms the payment and reviews the lot, it is offered to buyers who pass KYC on the open shop, or privately through the sale-desk.

  4. 04

    Protected payment, then payout

The buyer pays, and the money is held; when they confirm, you receive the price: in full below $10k while we launch, less a 5% commission from $10k.

Sending a stone to Bangkok involves export and import paperwork of its own. The desk talks you through it before anything moves.

Gem buyers in Dubai

A cash offer, or a fair-price exit

Gem buyers in Dubai who pay cash on the spot do a real job: they take the risk, tie up their money and wait for their own buyer. That is why a cash offer is usually well below what an end buyer would pay. If you need the money today, that is the trade-off, and it can be the right one.

If you can wait for a buyer, a documented stone sold with safe settlement keeps more of its value. You pay no commission under $10k while we launch, 5% from $10k when it sells, plus the $20/month account if you list it yourself; the buyer pays a premium of 3–7% and, outside custody, a settlement fee of 3% (at least $75).

Prices

Ruby, sapphire and emerald prices in Dubai

A ruby or sapphire doesn't cost more or less because it is bought in Dubai. The price is set by the stone (color, treatment, origin, size and its report) and by how many hands it passes through on the way. On the shop, each lot shows its asking price in US dollars; the buyer's premium and the settlement fee are added at checkout, and import charges are paid on arrival.

Trade names you will hear in the gem market in Dubai (pigeon's blood ruby, royal blue sapphire, Colombian emerald, padparadscha) mean something only when a laboratory report uses them for that stone.

For the trade

Gemstone dealers in Dubai

Dealers and jewelry stores that trade colored stones from Dubai can apply for a business account. After a business check (KYB), they list on the open shop, where each lot states how far it has been checked and every sale uses the same safe settlement.

Questions people ask

Does Everystone have an office or a vault in Dubai?

No. Everystone works online as an international network, and its team, checks and vault are in Bangkok; there is no Everystone office, vault or pickup point in Dubai. Stones reach the UAE by insured courier, on the seller's terms shown before you pay (delivery in the price, or a charge from $60), or you collect the stone in person.

Will I pay customs duty on a gemstone shipped to Dubai?

Most likely. A private buyer in the UAE should expect import duty and VAT, as of October 2026 commonly 5% duty on the value including shipping and insurance, then 5% VAT on that plus the duty. Confirm with the courier or a customs broker before you buy; these charges are not part of the price on the lot.

Does Everystone buy gemstones in Dubai?

No. We don't buy stones anywhere. We check them, bring buyers and settle the sale safely. If you want cash today, a local buyer will pay it, usually well below what an end buyer would pay.

Where can I sell gemstones in Dubai at a fair price?

Start with a free Registry record. For a verified sale, the stone is checked in Bangkok and offered to buyers once you list it from your cabinet (the $20/month account is paid when you list it, and the desk confirms the payment and reviews the lot), or through a vetted dealer. While we launch there is no commission under $10k; from $10k you pay 5%, only when it sells.

Do I have to pay before I see the stone?

You pay, and the money is held: the seller is paid only after you receive the stone and confirm it. Before confirming, you can ask for more photos or video, or an independent lab check.
